Go to Uzbekistan on a circuit of the Silk Road and relive the journey of the old caravaners! This circuit Uzbekistan will allow you to make during your days a real journey in time and to discover a rich culture! You will discover the vestiges of an ancient time and admire the grandiose monuments of the country in mythical cities. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy intense driving sensations by climbing mountains aboard your 4 × 4 and traveling through the arid desert Uzbek.

Program
Day 1 Tashkent

Arrival in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan, after a night flight. Welcome by the local guide. Transfer to the hotel. Small rest. Departure for the guided tour of the city. Tashkent is a fascinating mix of traditional and modern, and today one of the biggest crossroads of Central Asia. You will discover the Independence Square, but also the Opera and Ballet Theater Navoi, testimony to the Soviet architecture where the cheapest classical operas of the world are given. The medersa Koukeldach, and its mosque, the mausoleum Kaffal Chachi are worth a visit. Lunch in a restaurant. In the city, you take the Tashkent metro, the only metro in Uzbekistan! Having dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2 Tashkent – Nukus – Moynak – Nukus (430 km – 7h)
You get up at dawn to catch your flight to Nukus! After 1h40 of flight, you are greeted by your guide and take possession of your 4 × 4. You leave for the ruins of the ancient Mizdakkhan city, about 20 km from Nukus. You continue your journey towards Moynak by taking a desert road, formerly used by the caravaners of the Silk Road. You observe on your way the drying up of the Aral Sea, which was once the 4th biggest inland sea of the globe. You contemplate a desolate place where a very special atmosphere on a cemetery of fishing boats. After lunch, you take your 4 × 4 in the direction of Nukus where you dine and spend the night.

Day 3 Nukus – AyazKala—Khiva (250 km – 4h)
At dawn visit the cattle market around Nukus. Following the visit with the Nukus Art Museum is called both the museum of Igor Savitsky. It is the second best Russian vanguard gallery in the world after that of Russian Museum of St.Petersburg. Departure to Ayaz Kala. Road to Toprak Kala (100 km) (dating from the 1st century BC), ruined fortress dating from the 1st century BC. A visit to the ancient fortresses of the desert of Ayaz Kala (3 rd century BC), one of the most impressive sites since the ruins of the two citadels are perched on a hill Middle of the desert. Lunch under the yurt in Ayaz Kala. Your 4 × 4 will then take you to the river Amu-darya, one of the major rivers of Uzbekistan. Drive to KHIVA, Uzbek Oasis located on the border of Turkmenistan. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4 - Khiva
Full day visit to this UNESCO-listed open-air museum city and former Silk Road stopover: Kona Ark fortress, Kalta Minor minaret (XIXth), Mohamed Aminkhan madrasah. Lunch in the old town followed by visits to Mohamed Rahimkhan Madrasah, Friday mosque, Said Alouddin mausoleum, Pahlavan Makhmud mausoleum, Islamkhodja minaret, Tochhovli palace and the Khan Harem. Dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5 Khiva – Bukhara (470 km – 6h)
After your breakfast t hotel, tour starts from Kyzylkum, which is known as "Red sands", desert spreading over parts of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. On your way you observe a pile of sand and stones reminding again the aridity of the scenery where only a few shrubs manage to survive. You arrive in Bukhara in the afternoon, veritable cradle of a very ancient civilization of the Orient with more than 2500 years of history. You settle into your hotel and begin your immersion in the Transoxian culture.

Day 6 - Bukhara
Bukhara is a divine place to visit! One of the most ancient cities of Central Asia. Spiritual and commercial Centre whose importance does not decrease over the centuries. Visit a central part of city - Shakhristan: Ark Fortress (VI — XIX c) — in middle ages it was a whole town with the emirs house, with wives, mosques mint place, government institutes, store rooms, a prison and a square for public executions, Bolo Khous Ensemble, Samanid mausoleum (IXc) 1st brick building shaped as cube covered by dome with unrepeatable geometrical brickwork design, Chashma Ayub Mausoleum. Lunch at chaikhana Labi House. Continuation of tour around Bukhara: Abdulazizkhan madrasah and Ulugbek madrasah, Magokki Attori mosque and Labi Khauz ensemble. Dinner. Overnight at hotel.

Day 7 Bukhara – Gijduvan – Nurata – Aydarkul (Yurt Camp) (270 km – 5h)
Drive to Aydarkul (Yurt Camp). Stop at GUIJDOUVAN for the visit of the family workshop of potteries going back several generations. A new stop for visiting the remains of the old Rabat-i-Malik caravanserai and the Sardoba water reservoir. Discovery of the rocks of Sarmish. Arrival at Nurata. Visit the city with the mosque and the sacred spring, the ruins of an ancient Sogdian citadel. Lunch in a typical chaykhana. In the afternoon, departure to the yurts camp near the Aydar Kul lake. You will reach the shores of the lake where you may have the chance to observe birds. Back to camp. Bactrian camel ride through the steppe and sandy dunes. Dinner of local dishes around a campfire to the sound of the music of an Akyn, Kazakh troubadour. Night in the yurt (4 to 6 people per yurt). The camp consists of about fifteen yurts (Kazakh felt tents). There is no individual yurt. You will be accommodated between 4 and 6 people per yurt. From a sanitary point of view, the camp has 4 showers, 1 European toilet and 4 toilets "Uzbek". Bedding is provided (mattresses, blankets, sheets).

Day 8 - Yurt Camp – Uhum (160 km – 2h)
Departure to the mountain village of Uhum. Arrival and installation at the inhabitant. Lunch. Discovery of the village with the warm and hospitable population. A walk in the village. Dinner and night at the inhabitant. A complete immersion in the local culture awaits you.

Day 9 Uhum – Samarkand (230 km – 4h)
You will have breakfast at the guest house and then take the road towards Samarkand. You will walk between the plains and enjoy small stops to take pictures of the surrounding landscape. Upon your arrival in Samarkand, you settle into your hotel and then enjoy the afternoon for a first exploration of the city at your own pace.

Day 10 - Samarkand
Day tours with local guide. Visit of Reghistan square with the madrasa Ulugbek, the madrasa Sher-Dor and the mosque Tillia Kori, the mosque Bibi Khanum and the bazaar Siob, one of the most lively places in the city. Lunch. Continuation of the excursion with the Gur-i-Emir mausoleum and the Chakh-i-Zinda necropolis, the Ulugbek observatory. However, your visit does not stop there because you enjoy the night to walk through the streets of Samarkand and rediscover its illuminated monuments in a different atmosphere than the day. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 11 - Samarkand – Tashkent (290 km - 4h)
You go up in your 4 × 4 and drive through the verdant hills in the direction of Tashkent. You contemplate a magnificent landscape where mountains can be seen in the distance.

Day 12 - Tashkent
Breakfast. Transfer at the airport.  Flight.  End of circuit.
